Things to Do in Niagara this Spring

 

Spring is upon us, and with the coming warm weather we're all looking forward to shaking off the dust from our winter hibernations and getting outside to experience that sun! If you have don't have any plans yet, here are some of the local Spring events happening around Niagara that you may not know about.

Niagara Falls Fireworks

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the annual Falls Fireworks Series, this year's series will have 111 displays, including daily shows from Spring right through to Summer. Enjoy the spectacular fireworks displays every Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 10 p.m. in Queen Victoria Park from May to June and then daily at 10 from June 18th - September 3rd. This is Canada's longest running fireworks series and if you've never been be sure to catch the incredible anniversary-inspired events this year! Whether you go solely for the fireworks or have them end off your day, these shows won't disappoint.

 

Spring Handmade Market

Despite having grown significantly since its creation, the Spring Handmade Market still carefully maintains its boutique artisan market experience. This event features products created by local artisans and small businesses from all across Ontario and Québec. Not to mention, the list of what you can find at this market is enormous! Everything from Jewellery to Pottery, Natural Bath & Body Products to Designer Clothing and Home Décor is showcased to promote handmade arts while offering a local and ethical shopping alternative in an upscale atmosphere. Stop by to support local businesses, art, and to taste some of the delicious foods and wines from the area.

 

Wings For Life World Run

If you're up for more of an active event, be sure to sign up for the Wings For Life World Run. On one day each year, this run takes place at event locations across the planet. Everyone starts at exactly the same moment whether it's day or night, bright sun or pouring rain at your location. Imagine running together with the rest of world, sharing an amazing experience! Unlike most runs, you're not heading for some distant finish line; the "Catcher Car" chases runners along the course, gradually getting faster until everyone is caught. This makes this the perfect event for experienced runners and newbie's alike. 100% of all entry fees and donations raised go directly to spinal cord research projects and clinical trials at renowned universities and institutes worldwide.

 

Niagara New Vintage Wine Festival

As spring gives way to even warmer weather, kick off the summer with the Niagara New Vintage Wine Festival! Over 30 Niagara wineries will be coming to 13th Street Winery for this years' celebrations. Featuring VQA wines, fresh produce and farm-to-table favourites, it is one of the most unique wine and food events you will ever attend. Complete with fabulous entertainment this festival really comes together to make a truly Canadian experience you won't want to miss.
