Blue = Master Bedroom, Yellow = Kitchen, etc.) that will not only help you, but any movers or friends helping unload. Go one step further and buy a few big, permanent markers to label boxes with their contents. This will prevent the inevitable opening of a dozen wrong boxes before finding the one that actually contains coffee mugs.

Although your excitement is understandable, you need to keep this overwhelming task list at bay while you make your move. We suggest keeping a notebook in a central location so that you can write down every action item you or your family thinks of throughout the day.

After 24 hours cut the list off, and prioritize each item with a 1, 2, or 3. First priority items should be tasks that need to be completed that week (think safety concerns, cleaning, unpacking essentials, etc). Priority two items are tasks to be completed within the next two months; these are related to organization, maintenance and any remaining unpacking. Priority three tasks should be the non-essentials; these are improvements and projects that you'd like to complete within the year such as renovations, landscaping, and large purchases.
